With approximately 5,000 students, Kilgore College is a student-centered institution characterized by excellence in teaching and learning. The Skills Lab Coordinator organizes and maintains all nursing skills labs and assists students and faculty as needed to enhance student assessment skills and performance of clinical nursing skills. for the planning, implementing, and evaluation of all learning activities and educational materials for all nursing courses in collaboration with nursing faculty, staff and other users of the skills lab. Additional responsibilities include but not limited to maintaining supplies, equipment, and software used in the skills lab, provide inventory and quality control data for supplies and equipment.

This position shall participate in departmental division and college related committees and activities. This faculty member demonstrates sound clinical knowledge and skills and competence in teaching as evidenced by current clinical experience, clinical teaching and/or academic teaching, simulation. Experience with information technology and knowledge of clinical facility operations is essential to success in this position.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Nursing • Hold a current license of privilege to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Texas. • Show evidence of teaching abilities and maintaining current knowledge, clinical expertise, and safety in subject area of teaching responsibility. • A minimum of 3 years of associated work experience. • Strong communication, organization, interpersonal, skills. Willing to work within the philosophical framework of Kilgore College Nursing Program. Works effectively within a group or independently. Student oriented and able to meet deadlines. Keeps abreast of current trends in education, nursing practice, and skills lab activities to improve student learning. Creates climate conducive to student learning and peer relationships. Maintains professional relationships with peers, colleagues and students. Willing to be an active member of college committees and functions. Evaluates the learning situation and implements decisions in the best interest of the students.
Salary Range & Fringe Benefits:
The 12 month salary for a new faculty member is based upon level of education, years of teaching experience, and years of related work experience. Base salary for a bachelor degree in this position is $53,467. In addition to the base salary this position also pays a $4,000 stipend and pay for previous experience scale. Health, life, and income protection insurance are provided. An excellent retirement program through either the Teacher Retirement System or Optional Retirement Program and generous paid leave time are also furnished. In addition, full time employees have free use of the college’s recreational/fitness facilities and tuition scholarships are available for the employee and dependent children.
