Adjunct - Center for Teaching and Learning Adjunct Facilitator
Overview:
Cincinnati State Technical and Community College invites applications for a part-time, Adjunct Teaching Facilitator for The Center of Teaching and Learning to begin at our Main Campus location. Qualified candidates will need to work with the Director of the CTL to develop and facilitate college-level creative and engaging; teaching and learning workshops, curriculum development, classroom management, remote learning, student success data and analysis, develop and implement individual learning sessions with faculty, assist in the business of the CTL, manage appointments and calendar for Cincinnati State faculty. Facilitation and planning may take place in person or via distance or online learning web portals.
As part of our team of highly qualified faculty, CTL facilitators are expected to provide high quality instruction and work with the Director of the CTL and the provost’s office to improve student learning experiences. Instructors may be assigned other responsibilities as determined by the CTL.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Assess faculty performance in achieving course objectives and communicate progress reports on facilitation efforts to the CTL
  • Promote student success by participating in the development and facilitation of curriculum for the CTL.
  • Facilitate assigned CTL workshops and collect data.
  • Work with others (CTL and Provost office) to explore and develop new workshops and support opportunities for faculty.
  • Address faculty issues in a timely manner, including communicating issues to the CTL.
  • Work directly with faculty to problem solve and find creative solutions to challenges with teaching and learning
  • Participate in professional development activities.
  • Make continuous efforts to improve the quality of CTL curriculum
  • Use CTL developed methods and reporting structures for all facilitation and development efforts.
  • Work with CTL and directly with faculty to; plan, develop, and use a variety of teaching methods and materials that assist students in meeting course objectives and which are appropriate for students with differing educational and experiential backgrounds and learning styles.
  • Evaluate facilitation workshop and training data and report those results to the CTL and/or provost’s office.
  • Keep accurate records and submit related reports and forms within requested timelines.
  • Facilitate workshops and training at a variety of times and locations in response to institutional needs.
  • Use equipment and facilities responsibly and courteously.
  • Where appropriate, assist the director of the CTL with the routine maintenance of materials, recording, scheduling and reporting.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university in education, educational leadership or organizational psychology
  • At least 3 years' experience teaching or facilitating learning at a post-secondary institution or college.
  • Demonstrated competence and interest in the use of technology in the classroom and willingness to explore new instructional methodologies.
  • Experience working with instructors on student success strategies, teaching methods and pedagogy and/or other academic procedures in an educational setting.
  • Experience using diverse methods of classroom technology, and innovative instructional/academic support systems and programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in education, educational leadership or organizational psychology
  • Expertise in development of curriculum and/or teaching and learning based training.
  • Experience with or development of diverse pedagogical methods
  • Experience and interest in using evidence-based instructional methods
  • Experience in statistics and data analysis
  • On-line distance education instruction experiences preferably using Blackboard
Desired Competencies:
  • Possess the ability to work in a diverse work environment.
  • Willing and able to facilitate day or evening events remotely and at a number of sites around the city.
  • Knowledge and skill in a variety of computer usage and software are required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse professional, community, and student population.
  • Possess good organizational and planning skills.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to students with diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds and students with disabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate faculty to produce learning-centered environments.
  • Self-disciplined and able to effectively facilitate others.
  • Demonstrated skill and/or knowledge organizational psychology with an emphasis on education and/or education experience with training and teaching members of an academic institution.
  • Commitment to student excellence and continued improvement of instruction
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently and lead projects within the CTL as needed.
