Job Summary

The acupuncturist is responsible for the administration of acupuncture to patients at the agency. The individual in this position shall be a licensed acupuncturist. The nature of this position is fast-paced in high-stress situations and conditions.

Job Functions

• Provide the patients with necessary program information and specific expectations regarding acupuncture treatments.
• Responsible for clean needle technique and safe and efficient treatments.
• Responsible for prompt and accurate case notes that must be recorded after each treatment.
• Communicate with agency Acupuncture Program Manager, Medical Providers and Treatment Director as well as other ETS staff to assure continuity of care and Western medical follow up when necessary.
• Must follow the ETS stated guidelines of confidentiality.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Acupuncturists at Evergreen Treatment Services must be graduates of an accredited school of acupuncture and have a current Washington State License. Coursework and experience regarding substance abuse, as well as National Acupuncture Detoxification Certification are desired.

Experience

• Experience in drug abuse treatment is desired.

Knowledge Requirements

• Ability to use good judgment and be flexible and cooperative with other members of the acupuncture team and other agency staff.
• Ability to prioritize workload, skilled in organizing detailed work assignments and follow through on assigned tasks to assure completion in a timely manner.
• Computer literate, with basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, and electronic medical records systems, as well as a high level of initiative in keeping current with technological change.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and switch between tasks quickly.
• High integrity and ethical standards.
• Dependable, able to work under pressure; receptive to change, willingness to learn, cooperative approach to problem-solving
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, clients, and outside contacts from a wide variety of ethnic, socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds; good diplomatic skills; including strong conflict-resolution skills.
• Flexible team player, cooperative and uses excellent judgment.
• Excellent attention to detail, planning and analytical skills.
• Good basic clerical skills including typing, ability to proof own work, good grammar and spelling.
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check.

Language Skills

• Ability to read and interpret general business correspondence, policies and procedures, referral information, financial documentation and applicable government regulations.
• Ability to write business letters, uncomplicated reports, instructions and procedures.
• Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from patients, staff, referral sources and the general public.

Mathematical Skills and Reasoning Ability

• Thorough knowledge of and ability to apply business arithmetic skills accurately and rapidly.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where standardization may be limited.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, schedule or diagram format.

Physical Requirements

• The employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear; frequently required to stand, walk and kneel; occasionally to climb balance, or stoop; rarely to crouch or crawl.
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, color and peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.

Evergreen Treatment Services (ETS) is a mission-driven nonprofit organization specializing in substance use treatment and homeless outreach services. ETS has been serving the Puget Sound region going on 50 years. Our work is organized into two areas: Clinic Services and REACH.

Our Clinic Services team provides medication, counseling, and treatment to more than 3,000 people with substance use disorder at three clinics in Seattle, Renton, and Olympia, Washington. REACH provides street-based social services for more than 4,000 people living outside or unstably housed, many of whom have had interactions with the criminal legal system. Many ETS participants have endured trauma and harm from broken and oppressive institutional systems that are often the root cause of their substance use. We strive to uplift the humanity and dignity of each person we serve as we walk alongside them on their journey to better their lives.
