SUMMARY OF ACQUISITION SPECIALIST:
The Acquisition Support Service position will support the United States Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District of New York. The work requires knowledge of drafting solicitations for purchase orders, contracts, or delivery orders, administrative office skills, attention to detail, and quality control techniques to ensure accuracy.

PAY: Estimated annual salary ranges from $95,000 - $103,000. Pay commensurate with experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF ACQUISITION SPECIALIST:
Includes the following:

  • Draft solicitations for purchase orders, contracts or delivery orders.
  • Assist with developing statements of work.
  • Utilizing agency specific clauses and provisions in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulations.
  • Develop quotes and proposals.
  • Post solicitations to government websites.
  • Review responses to solicitations for compliance with requirements.
  • Assist with drafting technical evaluation reports and fair and reasonable price determinations.
  • Prepare award documents for contracts, purchase orders, and task and delivery orders.
  • Perform contract administration activities, including, preparing modifications for exercising option years, incremental funding and other contract changes, preparing contract close out audits and modifications, maintain official contract file in accordance with required checklist, and monitor contract and notify Contracting Officer or any changes and/or updates.
  • Maintain contract files in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Perform data entry tasks for Federal Procurement Data System, and the United States Attorney’s Office contract writing system.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE OF ACQUISITION SPECIALIST:

  • At least a High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years of relevant experience supporting procurement operations.
  • A working knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulations.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Ability to use a variety of software programs, including but not limited to, Microsoft Word and Excel.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES OF ACQUISITION SPECIALIST:

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Work independently and efficiently, with guidance from supervisor and team members.
  • Retrieve and analyze data and information from multiple sources.
  • Attention to detail and quality control techniques to ensure accuracy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software programs (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook) and in accessing, learning and maintaining various databases.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust.
  • Successfully pass a federal background check and a drug screen.
  • Cherokee Federal employees are included as covered employees in U.S. Presidential Executive Order 14042, which mandates Covid vaccines for federal contractors. Executive Order 14042 is currently blocked from enforcement pending court proceedings. Therefore, Cherokee Federal is halting the application of the mandate; however, if the injunction is lifted, Cherokee Federal will restore administration of the vaccine requirement.

WORK ENVIRONMENT OF ACQUISITION SPECIALIST:

  • This position is performed in a climate-controlled office setting.
  • The position will support the Eastern District of New York.
