Heidelberg Materials is seeking an Accounts Payable Associate to join our team in Birmingham, AL. As an Accounts Payable Associate you will work at the Heidelberg Materials office located in the US Highway 280 - Inverness area and is responsible for accounts payable and inventory accounting for 15 ready-mix concrete plants located across North Central Alabama..

What you’ll get to do
Review invoices against purchase orders, check sales taxes, code and scan invoices into the OnBase/MAP system in a timely and accurate manner for approval and payment by Materials Accounting.
Review and approve processing of production facility raw inventory transactions daily, create and maintain purchase orders and update unit costs and fuel surcharges in the ERP system as provided by the Inbound Materials Manager.
Reconcile monthly vendor account statements to ERP system and work with suppliers and the Shared Service Center to resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.
Plan and organize individual work tasks to meet deadlines for invoice approval and accounting month end close.
Maintain vehicle records, annual registrations and prepare information for filing of fuel tax returns for light truck fleet, ready-mix concrete trucks and internal hauling division.
Assist the Analyst and Operations Manager with special projects occasionally when needed.
Provide exceptional service to internal customers in a Team environment including plant production supervisors, area operations managers, maintenance facility manager and general manager.
Essential Experience and Skills
Minimum of three (3) years previous accounts payable experience.
High School Diploma or equivalent required and preferably completion of some college courses (Heidelberg Materials offers a tuition reimbursement program after 1 year of employment and approval by management).
Requires a person with competence and focused on quality that can accurately review and check invoices and accounting transactions with an attention to detail.
Excellent computer skills and knowledge of MS Office including intermediate knowledge of Excel.
Ability to plan and prioritize tasks according to deadlines.
Knowledge of JD Edwards and OnBase proficiency a plus.
Willingness to learn new skills and develop both personally and professionally.
