Position: Accounting Specialist
Location: Chesterfield, VA
Duration: Contract-to-Hire
Shift Schedule: 1st Shift

Basic Function:
This role will be responsible for the accomplishment of accounting functions in support of the business operations. Will primarily report to the Accounts Payable Manager.

Will support the following function:

  • Supports activities related to processing A/P invoices and disbursement including: Receiving and processing invoices for Company Credit Card Expenditures. Obtain approvals for invoices and other expenditures. Obtain and reconcile vendor statements. Maintain physical and electronic A/P files. Maintains User and Card Data for SAP Concur.
  • Supports General Ledger/Financial Statement reporting including: Supports monthly close process by finalizing all invoice entries to meet a close deadline. Maintains a high level of accuracy and attention to date/coding details. Follows A/P systems, policies, procedures, and practices, to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to company guidelines.
  • Supports Cost Reporting by: Building working relationships with the operations team, and responding to requests related to the use of company credit cards. Work with Billings staff to document, review, and make corrections as needed. Maintain awareness of active jobs with appropriate follow-up/interaction on potential financial transactions.

Required Travel:

  • Minimal (Occasional travel to other Divisions, travel for conferences, workshops, seminars meetings, and/or training).

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • 2 years of experience in General Ledger Accounting
  • Experience analyzing financial data and providing financial recommendations
  • Prior experience in the construction industry is preferred.
  • Experience with MS Office, especially Excel
  • Must be computer literate with the ability to learn and use specialty software including Concur and Vista by Viewpoint.
  • Must be capable of producing reports and associated paperwork accurately and efficiently.
  • Organized with the ability to handle high volumes of data entry with attention to accuracy and timeliness.
  • A passionate, hardworking, upbeat individual that thrives in a team environment and possesses the ability to make the people around them better.
  • Must interact with co-workers, customers, and vendors in a professional manner presenting an appropriate reflection of the business while responding to questions, seeking information, or managing projects/work.
  • Able to read, write and speak English.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to answer phones to assist customers.
  • Walking/carrying/lifting items associated with normal office work (not to exceed 50 lbs.)

Required Certifications and Licenses:

  • Valid Driver’s License
