JOB SUMMARY:

The Accounting co-op / internship is the first step of an Accounting Management Trainee program which is a fast-track training program for key finance positions at Sara Lee Frozen Bakery, including Bakery Controller, Accounting Manager, and Finance Manager. Sara Lee Frozen Bakery is a $800MM Private Equity owned food manufacturing company headquartered in Oak Brook Terrace, Illinois with manufacturing plants located around the country including Tarboro, NC.

Accounting Management Trainee Program: Successful program participants will have the skills and experiences to achieve a Plant Controller position in the field or Financial / Accounting Manager at the headquarters in 6 - 8 years. After graduation, successful interns would then start in the Accounting Management Trainee position at a manufacturing plant, reporting directly to the Bakery Controller where training and development is expected to last 18 to 24 months.

Accounting Co-Op / Internship responsibilities include training and experience in a broad range of accounting, internal control, and financial planning activities:

Accounting Process:

• Participate in plant period close accounting related tasks
• Participate in physical inventory cycle counts
• Daily reporting of plant KPIs, weekly direct labor and yield reporting (Raw Material usage vs. standard), using Power BI, Excel and other tools

Financial Analysis Project:

• Working with subject matter experts to complete one or two projects analyzing and area of the bakery costs, developing insights, and recommending corrective actions as needed

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

• Daily works with Bakery Controller, Cost Accountant as well as plant supply chain, manufacturing, and engineering professionals
• Weekly interactions with Bakery Manager and Director of Supply Chain Finance

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• 2 - 3 years of progress towards a B.B.A. or B.S. in business with an Accounting or closely related major
• Demonstrated interest in cost accounting and operations through course work or previous internships
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to effectively interact with senior management
• Computer savvy, knowledge of ERP systems, strong skills in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft office applications
