Accounting Budget Specialist

Specific duties include the following:

• Work closely with the Finance Team, assist in the preparation of monthly close, reviewing costs, prepaid expenses and preparing account reconciliations
• Consolidating, analyzing, and providing monthly financial reporting
• Collaborates with the CFO and department managers to develop annual budgets.
• Determines whether capital budget proposals are in compliance with regulations
• Defends budget recommendations and develops a final budgetary agreement with management.
• Monitors and track commitments, obligations, and expenditures
• Monitors spending to ensure it remains within budget.
• Estimates and forecasts future financial needs and supports programs with financial analytics.
• Monitors and reports performance against plans to ensure that contractual, cost and schedule objectives are met.
• Forecasts and tracks financial results throughout the year to meet budget projections.
• Organizes budget templates and data in a clear and intuitive manner.
• Helps identify financial or operating risks associated with the execution of the contract or project.
• Ability to consult and interact with senior executives to provide them with the information they need to execute their mission and make trade-off decisions
• Compile and prepare information/worksheets for outside auditors
• Cross-Training within the Finance Division
• Perform other duties as assigned including special projects and analysis on an ad hoc basis

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance

Licensure/ Certification

• CPA a plus.

Specialized knowledge

• Proficient excel skills (various formula functions, vlook-ups, pivot table, etc.)
• Excellent computer skills; experience with Sage, Eclipsys, MS Office, Microsoft Teams
• Advanced accounting experience preferred (variance analysis & interacting with auditors) Strong GAAP accounting knowledge

Skills

• 5+ years of related Accounting experience
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities and organizational skills, with a strong attention to detail
• Creative thinking about solutions with others (be able to effectively communicate with all levels throughout the department and company)

• Strong GAAP accounting knowledge
• Proficient excel skills (various formula functions, vlook-ups, pivot table, etc.)
• Experience working with multiple types of financial systems: MS Dynamics AX/365 experience a plus, Sage, Eclipsys, Microsoft teams
• Seeking motivated, process improvement-driven candidates

Working conditions

• Regular work schedule - Extra hours during monthly and year end closing
