The Work You Will Do:

We are looking for highly motivated and detail-oriented candidates with great customer service skills for this Accountant III position. This position is in the Revenue Management Unit, within the Bureau of Finance and Accounting. This position primary responsibilities include ensuring all funds collected are accurately recorded, allocated to the correct account, and timely deposited in accordance with Treasurer Rules, DFS requirements, and Florida Statutes.

Within this Division, the Bureau of Finance and Accounting has primary responsibility for the department’s financial and accounting activities including planning, organizing, and directing finance and accounting services.

Pay:

$34,380 per year.


Your Specific Responsibilities:

Responsible for working with Agency financial and accounting records. Audits and processes accounts payable and/or receivable and related paperwork in compliance with state and Agency policies and procedures and performs related research to resolve discrepancies as required. Codes and inputs financial data using specialized accounting software and databases. Maintains department financial files, spreadsheets and logs. Audits financial transactions ensuring accuracy and compliance. Performs routine accounting reconciliations and monitors accounts. Provides assistance and responds to routine accounting/financial questions.

  • Policy - Ability to interpret and apply related policies, procedures, principles, and practices.
  • Computer Application Knowledge - Knowledge of basic computer functions.
  • Filing/Recordkeeping - Ability to maintain accurate records and retrieve files from active or archive sources. Basic filing practices to include numeric and alphabetic systems.
  • Accounting Principles - Ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Data Collection - Knowledge of the concepts, principles, and practices of financial data collection and report preparation.
  • Accounting Systems - Knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalency and four years appropriate experience or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to four years.
