Position Overview:
Accountant prepares month-end general ledger close journal entries and supporting reconciliations. Performs monthly, quarterly and annual financial statement reporting using available technology. Drafts internal financial reports and supporting analytics for division management. Supports special projects and corporate initiatives.

Essential Functions

  • Records MGA Direct/Assumed books of business on a quarterly basis; this includes journal entry preparation, account reconciliations and researching and documenting all fluctuations.
  • Records MSIGS E&S book of business on a quarterly basis; this includes journal entry preparation, account reconciliations and researching and documenting all fluctuations. Assist in developing reports and processes.
  • Annual Statement schedule preparation for three insurance companies including: Schedule P for assigned books, Cyber supplement, Notes to financials compilation and Page 14 for E&S company.
  • Quarterly Statement schedule preparation for three insurance companies including: Part 3 for assigned books of business.
  • Participate in Financial Audits/Reviews with E&Y. Respond to all applicable audit requests timely and accurately.
  • Handle all assigned state annual statement filing requirements.
  • Apply cash receipts/payments in PRS reinsurance system as needed.
  • Act as backup for the following items: ceded premium payments in payment processing system, other books of business monthly/quarterly preparation, other as needed.
  • Document and maintain all procedures for applicable books of business. Update existing documents that require modification.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience; property and casualty insurance experience preferred
  • Must be able to work in the Warren, NJ office 2 days a week

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
