Virginia Space Grant Consortium, Hampton, VA.
The accountant position maintains and provides budget/financial information and processing to management in order to aid in decision making for a non-profit organization with annual budgets averaging $4.3 million. The accountant reports directly to the Director of the Virginia Space Grant Consortium and will work closely with program managers and project coordinators. Key duties and responsibilities include: Conducting periodic reconciliations of all accounts to ensure their accuracy. Recording cash receipts and expenses and performing monthly reconciliations of accounts to ensure project budgets are tracked correctly. Preparing quarterly budget reports. Preparing annual budget report to NASA. Developing fiscal reports for sponsoring organizations. Tracking costing trends and establishing budget projection reports. Establishing and maintaining payroll allocations and expenditures. Preparing sponsor and partner invoices and ensuring receivables are collected promptly. Performing detailed ad-hoc financial analyses to assist in decision making by management. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required along with five years of relevant experience. Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare annual budget report to NASA
  • Prepare biannual reports for presentation to Board of Directors
  • Establish and maintain payroll allocations with accordance to project budgets
  • Enter payroll allocation information into payroll system
  • Prepare and track sponsor and partner invoices
  • Petty cash maintenance and reconciliation
  • Other administrative tasks and projects, as assigned
