Job description
Suffolk County Community College is the largest community college in the State University of New York (SUNY) system and primarily serves an audience of more than 1.5 million residents of Suffolk County. Provide support to the Business/Cashier’s office in various functions:
- Work in cashiering function regarding student payments, departmental deposits, student refunds, financial aid, etc.
- Work in student account record management function with regards to:
- General student account billing information
- Payment options, printing bills, schedules, etc.
- Parking fees, late fees, transcripts, etc.
- Tuition waivers
- Delinquent Accounts
- Reconcile cashier registers to ensure accurate daily receipts.
- Reconcile departmental statements to bank statements and college general ledger. Prepare and post deposits.
- Answer telephone and emails inquiries from internal staff and external students, parents, etc.
- Prepare, distribute and manage timecards and AME 1126 forms for campus staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Business Services and Administrative Assistant
OPEN COMPETITIVE
Either:
(a) Graduation from a standard senior high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and two (2) years of experience in computing and registering data in financial records, accounts, or journals; or,
(b) Two (2) years of clerical experience, and six (6) credits in accounting from a college with federally-authorized accreditation or registration by NY State.
NOTE: Education beyond high school from a college with federally-authorized accreditation or registration by NY State including at least three (3) credits in accounting per year may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.
As per the Association of Municipal Employees (AME) contract, the starting annual salary is $40,220. (Grade 11). Position is eligible for medical benefits as offered by the College.
Salary in accordance with Suffolk County Civil Service and AME contract and is non-negotiable.
Provisional Appointment – This position requires an appointment from a certified eligible list and currently there is no established list. For you to become a permanent employee, you must pass the examination and be reachable (Rule of Three) on the certified eligible list that results from the civil service examination for this position.
