The Senior Network Engineer will manage the Network team to conduct technical tasks, network monitoring and control, technical support including troubleshooting and resolving maintenance issues for all systems in the network. In this role, the Engineer will configure and install networking hardware/software replacements and upgrades minimize downtime, mentor network administrators and other reporting as required. Additionally, the Senior Network Engineer will work with other team engineers to develop programmatic actions and minimize security risks.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Monitors and controls the performance and status of network resources across multiple enclaves utilizing software and hardware tools.
Develops and maintains all networking documentation (drawings, cut sheets, configurations, and deployment plans).
Works with City of Brownsville Departments/Employees and other engineers and administrators in support the City networking related projects.
Identifies and diagnoses problems and factors affecting network performance.
Provides day-to-day subject matter expert support for City of Brownsville enterprise.
Troubleshoots networking issues and outages, which may occur during non- core hours.
Works with vendors in support of the City of Brownsville networking issues as required.
Ensures all networking applicable vulnerabilities are resolved or mitigated in a timely manner.
Performs preventative maintenance services on all devices within the networking area of responsibility.
Maintains a current understanding of emerging technologies and trends in data center as well as service provider.
Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION:
Bachelor"s degree in Technology, Information Management, or Cyber Security preferred.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in computer system or network engineering.
3+ years" experience installing and configuring CISCO Switches (i.e., Series 2900, 3700, 3800, 3900, 4500, 6500. Catalyst 9000 Series Preferred).
3+ years" experience in installing and configuring CISCO routers (i.e., ASR 1000 and ISR 4000 series).
3+ years" experience installing and configuration CISCO firewalls (i.e., ASA 5500 Series).
Prior experience with modern data center technologies, such as Cisco VPC, Cisco VDC, and VRF Lite.

Must have experience with Cisco routers, Catalysts switches and Call Manager.
Proficient in Microsoft Visio and Word

SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
Valid Texas Driver"s License.
Cisco Certified Network Professional
Microsoft dynamics 365

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
The City of Brownsville requires all employees to successfully pass a Drug & Alcohol examination and a Background Check.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT:
Performs medium to heavy work that involves walking or standing, lifting and pushing virtually all of the time, exerting between 10 and 50 pounds of force on a recurring basis, or skill, adeptness and speed in the use of fingers, hands or limbs on repetitive operation electronic office machines or tools within moderate tolerances or limits of accuracy.
