General Description - The Director of School Counseling is responsible for overseeing operations of the counseling department at King George High School. Assists students, with successful adjustment from the middle school into the high school and assists with planning for post secondary educational and employment transitions; helps parents to join effectively with the school personnel toward the student's successful participation in the school and supports the staff and administration in promoting a positive school environment. Responsibilities include college and career counseling, social/emotional counseling, scheduling, parent and student information workshops and monitoring graduation requirements for students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have or be eligible for Virginia licensure in School Counseling
- 5 years of successful teaching and/or counseling experience with at least 5 years experience at the secondary level preferred
- Demonstrates the professional and personal characteristics for working effectively with students, parents, school personnel and community agencies
This is a 12-month position.
Salary credit will be given for previous teaching or counseling experience in a public or accredited private school.
The PROPOSED 23-24 salary is $68,203 - $126,077 per year.
