Salary Range: Instructor Rank: $48,000 - $63,142
Assistant Professor Rank: $49,637 - $67,448
Rank is determined by work/degree experience.

Summary
The Learning Specialist for Career and Technical Education (CTE) will focus 95% of their time providing academic support for students enrolled in CTE programs and coordinating the development and implementation of activities for the academic advancement of CTE students. This includes a large population of allied health programs such as nursing. The remaining 5% of the work time will focus on other college-funded activities. Travel to LCCC sites is required at times. Some evening and occasional weekend hours are required. The Learning Specialist reports to the Associate Dean for Student Learning and Organizational Development. * This position is contingent upon grant funding.
Salary is restricted to above range and will not exceed the maximum of the range. Salary offers are non negotiable and offers are determined and are based upon related work experience submitted on resume.

Duties and Responsibilities

Perkins-Funded Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyze individual CTE student’s learning needs through observation and informal assessments. Utilize the results to develop specific learning strategies and individualized assistance.
  • Consult with subject-specific and generalized tutors in developing a team approach to delivering learning strategies and academic improvement initiatives.
  • Work cooperatively with faculty, administrators, and staff to address students’ learning support needs, referring to other individuals as appropriate.
  • Enhance CTE student success through provision of additional learning support activities, including mentoring and supplemental instruction.
  • Offer periodic study skills sessions and workshops to enhance students’ academic success. Partner with other Educational Support Center staff and other departments to provide additional areas of expertise to further assist students’ learning development.
  • Maintain privacy of CTE student records in accordance with FERPA.
  • Maintain records and data collection system that aligns with grant funding requirements and facilitates effective program evaluation.
  • Assist the Associate Dean with data analysis to determine effectiveness of service in supporting students’ learning goals and outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments, seeking input from faculty and staff about the related goals, objectives, and services of the Educational Support Center.
  • Consistently communicate information regarding College engagement activities and career services to assist student in involvement in the LCCC campus community.
  • Collaborate with faculty to assess and address CTE students’ study skills development through workshops tailored to specific CTE disciplines.
  • Maintain logs/data system for all activities performed and have them available for grant and supervisor.
  • Perform other Perkins-related duties as assigned.

College-Funded Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Associate Dean with data analysis to determine effectiveness of service in supporting students’ learning goals and outcomes, identify strategies to enhance efforts and strengthen outcomes.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings.
  • Serve on College committees and advisory boards, as assigned.
  • Actively participate in professional development activities In addition to College-sponsored activities, maintain professional development and currency learning support strategies, technologies and best practices.
  • Perform other College-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications
Education

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education.

(Foreign degrees - must provide a U.S. equivalency report of your degree credentials.)
Certifications

  • Act 153 Clearances (Act 34 PA Criminal Background, Act 151 PA Child Abuse History, Act 114 FBI Clearance Fingerprinting)

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Minimum two years of experience providing learning support for postsecondary students.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills and record keeping.
  • Technical abilities to include Microsoft office suite, student database and management software, and other applications as needed.
  • Commitment to the goals and mission of a comprehensive and inclusive community college.
  • Desire and ability to assist students and establish rapport with faculty, administration, and community representatives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bi-lingual, Spanish or Arabic.
  • Experience in or knowledge of healthcare fields and related success strategies.
  • Knowledge and experience with grants and grant reporting.
